Chiropractor for Poor Posture

postureYou’ve probably been told by a parent or teacher to sit or stand up straight. And they were right! Though it is not as simple as that. Good posture is an important component of good health. Whether we like it or not, our bodies are constantly subject to the force of gravity.

Without good posture, the gravity can pull down on us in ways that are not ideal. This can lead to a slouched or imbalanced posture which neither looks nor feels good. For most of the day, we are either on our feet, sitting down or lying down. Our posture during those activities is important.

Ryde Chiropractic may help to improve bad posture.

Common causes of poor posture

Many factors can contribute to poor posture. The most common we see in our office are:

  • Long hours at a desk job or studying
  • Frequent and prolonged mobile phone or tablet use
  • Improper workstation ergonomics.
  • Poor sitting habits
  • Poor sleeping posture
  • Weight
  • Heavy back pack or hand bag.
  • Clothing: poor fitting bra, high heels.
  • Stress, lack of confidence, depression, anxiety.
  • Scoliosis
  • Trauma
  • Congenital abnormalities.

What are the possible long term effects of poor posture

  • Shoulder and back pain
  • Headaches
  • Exacerbate arthritis
  • Poor circulation
  • Fatigue
  • Lower mood
  • Forward head posture (‘turtle neck’)
  • Lowered breathing efficiency

How Ryde Chiropractic can help

In our office, we look to see what the contributing factors of poor posture are for you. We use hands on care to help with the stiffness and soreness that can come from prolonged poor posture and help your body be capable of having a more ideal posture. We devise strategies to help improve your postural habits, be it at work, at home or in bed. We also provide exercises to help encourage the right posture and encourage fluid joint mobility.

Your Posture Consultation

Get started by discovering the cause of your poor posture and get on the road to recovery.

  • Starts with a Complimentary Discussion (see terms and conditions)
  • If appropriate, you may continue immediately with your paid Comprehensive Examination.

This appointment starts with a complimentary discussion and detailed medical history with Dr Anthony  (Chiropractor) or another Chiropractor on his team.  He will listen to everything you have to say and find out more about your problem and how it is affecting you.

If your Chiropractor feels they can help you, you can continue forward with a thorough examination at normal fees.

The examination includes comprehensive postural, neurological, orthopaedic and chiropractic examination. If clinically indicated you may be referred for spinal x-rays, which are fully covered by medicare.

Following the consultation, your Chiropractor will carefully analyse your history, examination and x-rays (if taken) to diagnose your problem and provide his best recommendations to you at your Recommendations Conversation.
